Burger Joint
Burger Joint is a cute little affair wedged inconspicuously among Sheung Wan’s bustling lunchtime noodle shops. Newly opened, it’s a welcome change of pace in the area, with its minimalist interior lending a spacious feel despite its compact size. As for the food, the name says it all. You’ll find 10 different burgers on the menu, all served with fries and drinks, ranging from the Meaty Monster to the Homestyle Fish Burger to the Porto-Burger. The latter is the Joint’s hefty sop to vegetarians, using a giant portobello mushroom in place of a patty, and topped with grilled zucchini and herb-infused bell peppers. Homemade sauces are a specialty here, with a vast array to choose from and special recommendations to go with each different burger. Try the Classic BJ, a juicy beef number topped with spinach, red onion, tomato and an optional (though it should be mandatory) helping of special lemon mustard basil sauce. We also took on the gargantuan Double Decker, a double-patty, double-cheese extravaganza best tackled with garlic mayo. A small venue for some big bites.
Best Bit: You’re free to experiment with as many sauces per burger as you can handle.
