We wanted hot pot AND dim sum for dinner. Hey, why not? This new place in Prince Edward offers both under one roof and specializes in a variety of hot pot from the Guangdong province called the chicken and tripe pot. Despite a rather silly name, Piggy Chickee actually does a seriously good job. It’s one hot pot per person—with this scare about swine flu and what not, better to be safer than to eat from a communal pot, right? The chicken and tripe pot is only $68, which comes with hot pot staples like meatballs, beef, vegetables, rice noodles and mushrooms. We also ordered extra jumbo oysters, which were $14 each. The soup had a delicious strong flavor and aroma—in fact, it got us so hungry we also ordered some turnip cake and har gau. The former was nicely crunchy on the outside and soft inside, while the latter had a thin skin and a juicy filling. The service was extremely friendly and efficient considering it’s a restaurant that won’t break the bank. At the end of the meal we are happy, full, and were already planning to go back for brunch the next day.
