This surprisingly well-known restaurant serves one curry sauce, with your choice of beef, mutton, tendon, prawn and crab, and it comes with rice or frozen, tired rotis. If a hole-in the-wall in Jordan is only serving ONE form of curry, then it’d better be damn good curry. Damn good curry it ain’t. It’s Pakistani-style, soupy, oily, packed with heat but lacking the fragrance and flavors that come from a well-chosen aromatic spice mix. We tried a non-curry item, tomato with fish, which was three slices of frozen halibut in a sugary ketchupy soup. Hello! The mutton came with bones and skin—that’s perfectly fine if we’re talking about Cantonese lamb hot pot—but in curry claiming to be halal? We don’t think so. When there are so many other interesting alternatives on Woosung Street, like the dai pai dongs and AUTHENTIC Indian and Pakistani restaurants, why would you choose this one? If some meat in a spicy onion soup is your curry of choice, then well, go ahead.
