We were totally perplexed when we heard the name of this restaurant. Six what? Actually, the place is named after a famous modern work of Chinese fiction, which is set in the Qing Dynasty. But there's absolutely nothing Qing about this enormous restaurant with bright lights, a couple of flat-screen TVs and the most unusual hotpot system we've ever seen. Most certainly inspired by revolving sushi restaurants, instead of tuna rolls and tofu, the revolving tracks here carry raw sliced meats and fish, and chopped vegetables, while a bubbling vat of soup sits before you. As hotpot buffets ($88 per person) go, the bilingual menu is huge and very good value. Also, whatever you cannot find on the track you can always order from the staff, who are generally helpful and friendly but do not speak very much English. The plates were fresh and flavorful (we had some of the most tender ostrich ever), and there's a good variety of vegetables and noodles as well. Choose from six different soup bases or, if you cannot decide, have a pot split down the middle with two soups. We had tom yum koong, a well-flavored, spicy lemongrass and lime broth, as well as cilantro and thousand year egg soup, which was equally good although very mild. As the night went on, we noticed new items kept appearing on the track such as huge whole scallops, skewered prawns and whole baby squid, but we were simply too stuffed to partake. If hotpot is not to your liking, there are tables away from the hustle and bustle of the buffet feast where you can order from the menu of traditional Chinese cooked dishes too. Oh, and reservations are a must. This place is big, but it's always busy. We went on a weeknight and booked our table almost 36 hours in advance, but were told the only seats available would be at 6:15pm.
