The space at Mini Dans La Ville is smartly packaged, with unobtrusive lighting, high and low tables and an exposed ceiling that make you feel comfortable whether you’re there alone, in a big group or just grabbing coffee with a friend.
You can order at the counter, where sandwiches and cakes are displayed, or go a la carte or for a set lunch with full service. Breakfast is available, as well as cold cut platters and cheese plates. The rest of the menu is a mixed bag of comfort foods like Italian meatballs, fish and chips, buffalo wings and a few fancier dishes like baked camembert and goose liver pate, plus a healthy selection of salads.
Drinks aside, the prices are pretty reasonable, ranging from a $54 English breakfast to $138 for a platter of Iberico or Serrano ham. We went with a lunch set of ling fish and chips for $98 (including a soup and drink), and were impressed with the portions and the presentation. The batter was thick and crispy, which really helped carry the milder flavor of the fish. The salad and fries on the side were, although not particularly memorable, not bad either.
Our order of Soy Karuna, an organic soy milk drink with lychee, mint and strawberries was a meal on its own, but very refreshing despite its thickness and substance. Great ambience and decent affordable fare? We’ll be back for more.
