Fresh, G/F, Lakeside I, Phase 2, Hong Kong Science Park, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., China
Opening Hours:daily 4:30pm-6am
Fresh is the Hong Kong Science Park’s only dining outlet, besides Café de Coral. Serving authentic Thai dishes prepared by native chefs, it’s a pleasant oddity amid this state-of-the-art campus, a buzzing sci-fi jungle of solar glass, steel and aluminum buildings. The restaurant offers alfresco dining beside the artificial lake, accompanied by a live jazz band on occasional evenings. Inside, it resembles a cutting-edge cafeteria at first glance, but you can be sure there’s no lunch-lady dishes being served here. Just try the pomelo salad, spicy-sour prawn soup, roast duck curry, omelet with minced pork and vegetables, and Larb Kai minced chicken salad. As a casual dining destination, Fresh might seem a bit remote for those with no official business in the area, but there’s ample public transportation and free parking, and it’s worth a trip for those curious to catch a glimpse of the hi-tech bubble that caused such a fuss a few years back. Overall, it’s the perfect place to talk biotechnology or precision engineering over a spicy meal and a cold Tiger beer.
