The buzz: Hong Kong welcomed its first blow-dry-only salon smack in the middle of Central at the end of May. Holding court on Wyndham Street, Airplay is home to a team of mane masters who will twist and twirl your hair into loose waves, bouncy curls or intricate updos.

The goods: If you’re after cuts and colors, you’re in the wrong salon. Airplay’s specialties are blow dries and updos, all of which are named after cocktails—the “sea breeze” unveils beachy waves; the “kamikaze” promises sexy volume; and the “Long Island iced tea” leaves strands silky and straight. You can sip on cocktails and snack on complimentary canapés while you’re pampered. All of the blow dries cost $280 and use Moroccanoil products. You can also add a makeup service ($180) or a detox moisture therapy ($100).

The décor: The stark white space is ultra-modern, with a long granite bar and blond wood floors. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the salon with natural light, while Victorian-inspired details, pale pink couches and jazzy music beg you to host a birthday bash or pre-wedding event.
