A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who came to our very first Skin Deep event on April 13! It was a huge success, and not only did I get to chat to readers and fellow product junkies, we all got to listen to Margo Marrone of The Organic Pharmacy give a fab educational talk about the potentially dangerous additives that are found in many skincare products—all while knocking back the drinks, sampling The OP’s full product line, and scarfing down tasty canapés. We all even got to go home with a goodie bag containing a marigold and comfrey hand cream, plus discount vouchers and a coupon for a free skincare consultation. If you missed out, don’t fret. Just keep your eyes peeled for more Skin Deep and HK Mag events coming in the future.
Fitness articles tend to become a bit tiresome after a while—I mean, really, how many different iterations of “eat protein, squats are awesome” can one possibly come up with? But recently, I’ve been obsessively reading Gawker’s new “I of the Tiger” column by Hamilton Nolan, which is less motivational, high-fiving life coach and more fanatical drill sergeant with an evil sense of humor. It manages to be inspiring, terrifying, filled with practical info and hilarious at the same time.
Here are a couple of quotes:

Unlike most Hong Kong beauty writers, I have to pick and choose which beauty launches I go to, as other, "real-work" commitments sadly encroach on my “going to events” time. But I did make a point of going to the launch of Jo Malone’s limited-edition plum blossom cologne, held at Entourage in SoHo, which they had transformed into a boudoir of plum blossom sprays and cupcakes. The fragrance itself is quite sweet, and with its tones of yellow plum together with the plum blossom itself, it manages to be fruity and flowery at the same time but without overpowering you and everyone else in a five-meter radius. I like.
