Sugardolls

Sugardolls

November 28th, 2008

The buzz: If you thought they couldn’t fit any more bars onto D’Aguilar Street, think again. The latest addition is apparently a 50s-themed cocktail tavern with a funky drinks list and an all-night Korean barbecue.

The décor: Diner-esque, with classic red stools, an immaculate marble-top bar and lots of mirrors.

The drinks: One of the few places that serves shochu cocktails (free for ladies every Thursday), the bar’s unconventional drinks list is a welcome change from the usual. Signature numbers include the Pineapple Cooler (white rum, midori, fresh lime, pineapple juice, crushed ice) and the simple but tantalizing Angel Kiss (Svedka vokda, passion fruit syrup and fresh orange juice). There’s also a selection of Italian granitas on offer, available hot or cold.

The music: Easy lounge tunes during the day, with hip-hop and the occasional 80s hit throughout the evenings.

The crowd: Already a hit with tourists, Sugardolls is also fast becoming a regular haunt for the expat crowd, particularly the Korean community.

Why you’ll be back: Situated just shy of the D’Aguilar-Lan Kwai intersection, the convenient location makes this a great pit stop.
