SML

The buzz: It’s all about democratic dining at the Press Room Group’s new restaurant, where you get to choose your own serving sizes and seating arrangement.

The décor: Minimalist and modern, the décor is all about unfussy elegance. The main dining room is lined with long wooden tables, specially designed for communal eating. But for those who want a bit of privacy, there’s also a separate dining area with comfy booths, all within viewing range of the giant open kitchen. Don’t miss the huge terrace, the largest of its kind in Causeway Bay.

The food: True to the restaurant’s name and concept, the food comes in small, medium, or large sizes. SML serves pan-European cuisine, but the dishes are sprinkled with culinary influences from other parts of the world. The tender lamb kebab is made with New Zealand lamb but is slightly spiced, and served with a yogurt and mint sauce that gives the whole thing a Mediterranean flair.

The drinks: SML knows its alcohol and the wine list does not disappoint, with over 30 different bottles on offer, 16 of which are available on tap from their Enomatic wine dispenser. The SML Baby, made from Yakult, berries and fresh milk is hands-down delish.

The crowd: Trendy hipsters, looking for a bite to eat after shopping at D-mop.

Why you’ll be back: You can graze with a mini portion, or pig out with an L-sized dish. And oh, that terrace!
