Recession Rubdowns

April 3rd, 2009

Just because it’s a recession, that doesn’t mean you have to deny yourself a little luxury. Here are some springtime spa deals for a steal. By Sarah Fung.

Bliss Out
Nestled way up on the 72nd floor, the superb Bliss Spa at The W Hotel is offering buy-one-get-one-free treatments from now until April 30. Ride the elevator up to the funky, 14-room space, nibble on some olives, cheese and brownies and then enjoy any 60-minute (or longer) treatment—and get another absolutely free. There’s another deal on for shopaholics: head over to Elements and spend $3,500 or more in a day from April 2-5, and redeem a 60-minute Bliss massage for just $400, which is roughly half-price. 72/F, W Hotel Hong Kong, 1 Austin Rd. West, West Kowloon, 3717-2222.

OMG
Can’t afford to take a holiday over Easter break? It’s always easy to play make believe—just pretend you’re heading to the airport to catch a flight out of here, but then check into the Regal Airport Hotel, where from April 10-13, they’re offering a host of room deals starting at $408 per night. The rooms also include free reign at the pool and health club facilities and either a buffet breakfast or dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants, as well as a late checkout and a free shuttle bus back to any of the Regal hotels in Hong Kong proper. While you’re there, you can enjoy some great deals at the OM Spa: $299 per person for a 45-minute treatment. Or, upgrade your room to a $1,500 a night deluxe suite and get two massages thrown in for free. 9 Cheong Tat Rd., Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, 2286-8888.

Play for a Day
The Plateau Spa at the Hyatt is usually just out of the price range for most of us, but they’re launching a new deal over Easter that allows you to spend all day at the famous spa without having to re-mortgage your home. Book the “Easter Rejuvenation” package from April 6-13, which comes with unlimited use of the spa’s facilities, including the Hyatt’s outdoor heated pool, sauna and fitness center. There’s also a 60-minute back massage and a 25-minute mini-facial, all for only $1,650. 1 Harbour Road, Hong Kong, 2588-1234.

Spring in your Step
We love the seasonal offers at ESPA at the Peninsula, and their new springtime deal may be the best one yet. From now until July 31, spend $1,500 on a weekday, and you’ll be treated to two hours of pampering, including a full-body exfoliation, a 60-minute massage and an algae wrap. The treatment also comes with a healthy breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea and free use of the Roman-style swimming pool as well as the steam, sauna and aromatherapy shower facilities, meaning that you can easily lose yourself there for an entire day. The Peninsula, Salisbury Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2315-3322.

Quan-tum Leap
The SkyCity Marriot hotel’s Quan Spa is offering a 50 percent discount to new customers on three treatments: the 60-minute aroma fusion massage (original price: $630), the 60-minute aroma fusion facial (original price $680) and the 45-minute Tunisian neroli polish (original price $380). These special rates are available until the end of June. However, if you’re staying at the hotel on Easter weekend, you can enjoy an aroma fusion massage for $499. 1 Sky City Rd. East, Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, 3969-1888.
