New And Noted, November 28, 2008
November 28th, 2008It’s all about indulging your sweet tooth this week: first, luxury artisan chocolate brand Vero has launched their new autumn/winter collection. Created by pastry chef Jeffery Koo, who has trained at the Mandarin Oriental as well as with Pierre Gagnaire in Paris, the new selections come in five flavors: Chinese tangerine, red hazelnut, pink Himalayan caramel, calamansi mallow, and apricot and prune scotch. Available at the Lane Crawford Home Department in Pacific Place and IFC.
Singaporean company Awfully Chocolate has finally opened a branch in Hong Kong. The cakes are not displayed and there are only three flavors to choose from: chocolate, chocolate rum and cherry, and chocolate banana. Oh, did we mention that they don’t sell by the slice? Yes, you have to buy the whole glorious 6” cake or nothing at all. Probably not the best for those with no self-control. G/F, 2-4 Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay, 2882-0450.
For something more unusual, head over to the Royal Pacific Hotel for their new cheesecake promotion. There’s the traditional cheesecake, of course, but their more exotic flavors include a waffle cream cheesecake topped with mango, a chili and chocolate cheesecake, and, um, a pork floss cream cheesecake (pictured above). Available at their afternoon tea and late-night dessert buffets. 2/F, The Royal Pacific Hotel and Towers, Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2738-2322.
