A 30-year-old tour guide is assaulted in Kowloon City by a mainland tourist. Upset with an abbreviated schedule, caused by the heavy winter weather in China, the tourist kicks the guide. The police are called to the scene.

Frosty Reception
A Hong Kong tourist is trapped in the Huangshan Mountains on the mainland in –10°C weather for more than seven hours. He had fallen onto a plateau and became trapped during a blizzard while trying to find a location with a good view. He is eventually rescued by a mainland mountain services team.

Public Announcement
Cantopop star Gillian Chung Yan-tung faces the media for the first time since the so-called “Edison Chen nude photo scandal” began two weeks earlier. During the press conference, she says, “I have been very silly, very naïve in the past, but now I’ve grown up,” and then apologizes to the public. Her speech is 65 seconds long and she refuses to answer any questions. As of press time, there have been 465 photos released online of Chen and seven women, including Chung, Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi and Bobo Chan Man-woon.

A husband and wife are drinking in their Mongkok apartment at 7am when they begin fighting over household matters. They end up in a fistfight and both are arrested for assault and treated for injuries.

A woman throws 20 bricks from the rooftop of a nine-storey Sham Shui Po building. At 4pm, pedestrians see bricks falling and call the police immediately. The police apprehend the hysterical woman, who proceeds to sing the Chinese national anthem during questioning.

Prostitute Chase
A Western man confronts two mainland prostitutes in Wan Chai, whom he believes stole $20,000 from him after sex two weeks ago. The 34-year-old man spots the pair at 3am and chases them down Lockhart Road. Passers-by call the police and one prostitute manages to escape.

Scamming Statistics
Police figures show that the number of investment scams has doubled in the past year, and has targeted many professionals, such as doctors and lawyers. The scammers usually speak fluent English and persuade their targets to buy overseas stocks. One victim has been cheated out of more than $10 million.
