A 44-year-old businessman is charged for having sex with and indecently assaulting three girls, aged 13, 14 and 15 years old. The police also find a batch of sex tapes of him with the victims. Testimonies show their affairs had lasted for five months. The defendant paid the victims from $500 to $1,000 for each encounter.

A sample of radioactive substance Caesium-137 goes missing from The United Christian Hospital. A hospital spokesperson says the incident has been  reported to the police and it will not affect daily operations. As the substance is not highly radioactive, it does not pose a public health threat.

Ching Cheong, the veteran journalist jailed on the mainland for spying in 2006, is released on parole after serving half his five-year term. He heads back to Hong Kong to reunite with his family in time for Lunar New Year.

Update Police trace the source of the nude photos rumored to be of Cantopop celebrity Edison Chen, Twins star Gillian Chung, actress Cecilia Cheung and former singer Bobo Chan. A 23-year-old man is arrested in a computer shop in Central and charged with accessing a computer with criminal or dishonest intent. According to the initial probe, the photos were leaked when the computer that stored them was sent in for repair. There are six women and more than 1,300 obscene photos related to the case.

Drunken Rescue
A drunk 34-year-old woman threatens to jump off a pedestrian bridge in Mongkok. She climbs over the handrail and stands on the edge of the bridge, asking for her boyfriend. When the police and firemen attempt to rescue her, she becomes emotional and shouts, “Don’t touch me! You men are bad!” She is sent to hospital.

After working overnight, a 28-year-old man returns from his night job and tries to sleep. He asks his 75-year-old dad to keep quiet, but the father continues to murmur, making it impossible for the son to drop off. The argument escalates, then turns into a fight. The son beats up his father and is later arrested.

Six triad members are arrested for attempted blackmail in Wan Chai. They prepare 40 pots of mandarin oranges, a symbol of good fortune, and plan to exchange them for $1,000 lai see packets from restaurant and bar owners in the area. However, they are caught by the anti-triad squad when attempting to sell the second pot.
