September 12th, 2008The buzz: The last stop on a long night club Homebase has moved right next door, and is reborn with an afternoon lounge/late night concept, new décor, and an improved drink list.
The décor: Befitting its name, the underground Home is tucked-away and cozy but still very luxurious. Be careful not to miss the cleverly concealed-in-the-wall door, which adds to the secretive, cave-like atmosphere. Plush white couches are perfect for crashing on in the small hours, and the dancing pole is always good for a few drunken gyrations.
The crowd: The high-powered after-work crowd chills in the afternoons, and people from all walks of life (and we mean all) party at night. Expect a bunch of regulars from the old Homebase.
The drinks: High-class world wines and boutique champagnes are on offer, as well as cocktails infused with homemade ingredients. Try Mr. J, the afternoon special named after DJ Big James: a refreshing mix of French liqueur, high-end vodka and orange peel, rimmed with home-ground sugar.
The music: No hip-hop. Regular DJs such as DJ Christian, DJ Thierry, and resident DJ Big James spin house and progressive techno tunes all night long, with a jazzy lounge lineup for the afternoons.
Why you’ll be back: The comfy and relaxed atmosphere makes you feel at home, whether you’re there for a mid-afternoon cocktail, a late-night beer, or an early-morning champagne.
