Guangxi Lounge

Guangxi Lounge

July 4th, 2008

The buzz: Nestled between the two towers of the Grand Hyatt Hotel sits the Pearl River Delta’s first and only sky bridge lounge.

The décor: Brainchild of award-winning hotel and resort designer Peter Remedios, this unassuming new hot spot is surprisingly cozy despite its long and narrow open floor plan. Dark rattan chairs, beige leather sofas and glossy hardwood floors evoke a chic contemporary vibe. Gaping floor-to-ceiling windows offer near-360 degree views of the city’s Tianhe district below.

The drinks: Much of the usual cocktail fare with a few signature numbers said to be in the works. If it’s fine wine you’re after, slip in to the nearby hotel cellar where the in-house sommelier will be more than happy to assist.

The crowd: Guangxi Lounge is particularly popular with the city’s Japanese community. It’s also a second home to a significant number of corporate types through the evening.

The food: Just light snacks for now, with a tasteful selection of tea sets and pastries soon to come.

The music: Light contemporary jazz.

Why you’ll come back:
With a view this good, who wouldn’t?
