The buzz: A new whisky slash wine bar on Peel, perfect for chilling out with your pals.

The décor: Don’t mistake this saloon for a chapel with its stained glass windows. Barstools and tables are taller than usual so patrons sitting and standing will be around the same height. Soft lights with interesting lampshades and candles flickering on the tables provide a gentle, relaxed atmosphere while scantily dressed Hollywood starlets such as Halle Berry and Jennifer Love Hewitt and their autographs adorn the walls alongside Liverpool FC memorabilia. If you care.

The drinks: Over twenty kinds of whisky, including Macallan’s single malt, as well as various highland and lowland options available by the bottle. Try their special cocktails like Basil Collins (fresh basil leaves, gin, passionfruit syrup and tonic water), or the Slipper (Midori, banana liquor, fresh lime and pineapple).

The music: More chill-out and soft jazz during happy hours from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, and then live concerts on DVD.

The crowd: Gentle people who desire escape from the deafening SoHo insanity.

Why you’ll be back:
With the help of their knowledgeable staff, you’ll be saying goodbye to branded whisky liquor for good and downing quality stuff like a true Scotsman.
