Fishy Fun

It may not have exactly been Top Chef, but believe it or not, Hong Kong did host its own cooking competition last week. The event was sponsored by the Norwegian Seafood Export Council to raise the profile of Atlantic salmon (random fact of the day: 70% of which sold in HK is from Norway) so the chefs were all expected to create a menu based on the giant fish. The winner, Jean Ho Man Yan, a female chef from the HK Convention Centre created an appetizer of Seared Pepper Norwegian Salmon and Cous Cous Salad and her main was Pan-seared Roulade of Halibut and Salmon with Pancenta Zucchini and Moroccan Infusion. Her prize includes a stint in a top restaurant in Oslo. Hopefully she’ll come back with some top Nordic recipes and open up a much-needed rival to Finds.
